Xiaomi 14 Ultra launches in China with 1-inch camera sensor and 5,300 mAh battery

It appears that Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the Xiaomi 14 Ultra globally, with the device already fully revealed in China prior to its global debut. This latest flagship from Xiaomi follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, as a camera-focused flagship smartphone.

One of the standout features of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is its 1-inch camera sensor, which is a significant upgrade from its predecessor. The sensor is sourced from Sony's new generation of impressive camera sensors, which have been seen in other devices such as the OnePlus 12, known for its drastically improved camera performance.

With this new sensor, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is expected to offer enhanced camera capabilities, potentially setting new standards for smartphone photography. As the device prepares for its global launch, it will be interesting to see how it performs in real-world scenarios and how it stacks up against other flagship smartphones on the market.

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra boasts an impressive camera setup, with the main camera featuring a Sony LYT-900 50MP sensor equipped with a dual aperture of f/1.63 and f/4.0. Xiaomi claims that this setup allows the camera to capture 136% more light, which should result in improved low-light performance and overall image quality.

In addition to the main camera, there are three more cameras on the back of the device. These include an ultrawide lens and two telephoto lenses. One of the telephoto lenses offers 3.2x optical zoom, while the other offers 5x optical zoom. Notably, all four cameras on the back of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra are capable of capturing images at 50MP resolution, ensuring high-quality photos regardless of the lens used.

Beyond its impressive camera capabilities, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is set to deliver a powerhouse performance. The device features a large 6.73-inch OLED LTPO display with a resolution of 3200×1440 pixels and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The display is capable of reaching a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, making it easily viewable even in bright outdoor conditions. Additionally, Xiaomi claims that the display is protected by "Shield Glass," which is said to be 10 times stronger than conventional glass when it comes to resisting drops.

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is equipped with the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, ensuring smooth performance and efficiency. It offers up to 16GB of RAM and an impressive 1TB of storage, providing ample space for storing large amounts of data and running multiple apps simultaneously without any lag.

On the software side, the device runs on Android 14, customized with Xiaomi's HyperOS skin. This custom skin likely adds various features and optimizations to enhance the user experience.

In terms of battery life, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra comes with a large 5,300 mAh battery capacity, ensuring long hours of usage on a single charge. It supports fast charging with a 90W wired charging capability, allowing users to quickly recharge their device when needed. Additionally, it also supports fast wireless charging with an 80W capacity, offering convenience for users who prefer wireless charging.

The regular version of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra features an aluminum build, providing a premium look and feel to the device. However, Xiaomi has also introduced a "Titanium Special Edition," which offers a titanium build. This special edition model also includes two-way satellite communication, providing additional functionality for users in remote areas or situations where traditional communication methods may not be available.

In China, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra starts at CNY 6,499. While the global pricing has not been officially revealed yet, there are rumors suggesting that it will be priced at €1,499. However, it's essential to note that these are rumors, and the actual global pricing may vary when it is officially announced next week.
